Library and Collections

library

The Centre acquired stewardship of the literary collection of ACA Assurance in November of 1998 with a 99 year stewardship agreement. The Centre is responsible for the preservation of the Library Collection. The Centre continues to make the Collection available for international and local scholar research and the education of the general public on site.

The Centre is considered to be the largest research center on the history and culture of Franco-Americans in the United States because of this impressive Library Collection. It has been hailed by both local and national scholars, and has been said to be "...invaluable to the state" by Michael York, State Librarian at the NH State Library.

There are more than 30,000 individual pieces in the collection currently. The Library Collection includes books from the 18th century to the present and also includes letters, brochures, photos, microfilm, documents, hand written manuscripts, and loose newspapers dating in the 1800's. It is truly a treasure trove of information not availible anywhere else.
