Colleen Swan discovered painting through elective courses in watercolor and art therapy during her education at Notre Dame College of Manchester. At the time, she considered it an avocation for stress management. As a "poor woman's psychologist," it got her through the rigors of attaining her psychology degree, working as a pathology medical lab supervisor, being a wife, mother, and continuing on to Boston College Graduate School of Social Work.
Now retired from her career as a medical technology professional and psychotherapist, Colleen Swan has only recently begun to focus on her painting.
She has studied painting techniques with Lori Simons, artistic photography with Bob Raiche, and currently studies with master tonalist oil painter, Dennis Sheehan, at his Academy of Painting in Bedford.
The Franco-American Centre is pleased to be hosting the first solo exhibition of her art work.
