Our Mission

The Mission of the Franco-American Centre is to preserve the rich heritage of our French communities. We promote History, Culture and Education with an understanding of their historic contributions, cultural and artistic expressions, both past and present. The Franco-American Centre in Manchester NH is recognized as the primary catalyst to involve the community in celebrating the richness of the Franco-American experience, embracing all people of French heritage. The Centre presents a wide variety of cultural programs, musical performances, and art exhibits, which are entertaining and informative.

Colleen Swan

Colleen Swan discovered painting through elective courses in watercolor and art therapy during her education at Notre Dame College of Manchester.  At the time, she considered it an avocation for stress management.  As a "poor woman's psychologist," it got her through the rigors of attaining her psychology degree, working as a pathology medical lab supervisor, being a wife, mother, and continuing on to Boston College Graduate School of Social Work.

An exhibit of oil, watercolor and acrylic art works,  read more on the Colleen Swan exhibit page and plan to attend the opening on November 9

Feature Presentation

Chocolat

( shown with English subtitles)

Vianne Rocher (Juliette Binoche)and her young daughter are drifters who are met with skepticism and resistance when they move to a conservative town in rural France and open a chocolate shop during Lent. As Vianne begins to work her magic and help those around her, the townspeople are soon won-over by her exuberance and her delicious chocolates - except for the mayor, who is determined to shut her down. When a group of river drifters visit the town, Vianne teaches the townspeople something about acceptance, and finds love for herself along the way.
